THANK YOU GameStop!

Earlier this month Nikki Drake, WV Extra Life Guild Member, stopped by one of her local GameStop stores to thank them for this month’s campaign for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.

Local supporters gamed for a good cause thanks to GameStop customer donation campaigns that benefit children who battle critical illnesses!  100% of the donations received this month will be distributed evenly between Make-A-Wish America and Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.

“Extra Life is a family. We’re all working towards the goal of helping children and families being taken care of at WVU Medicine Children’s. I joined the Extra Life Morgantown Guild in November of 2017 right before game day. It was amazing to see everyone come together and play games for the kids. I knew this was something that I needed to continue to be a part of. I talked with my husband, Dave, and we decided to attend Extra Life United in Florida. ELU is held in March every year and is way more than a conference. This is something that needs to be added to your list of cons. The goal, of course, is to raise as much money for your hospital as possible by playing in video game and table top tournaments and challenges throughout the convention. On top of meeting other Extra Lifers, you get to participate in Children’s Hospitals Week. The CMN champions from different hospitals were there to celebrate, and even play games with ELU. It was so inspiring to meet the CMN champions and their families from all over the states and Canada. As soon as you introduced yourself and said you were with Extra Life their faces lit up! They know you’re there because you want to make a difference in one of the most fun ways possible.

We took part in the CMN live stream on Facebook and Twitch to raise money for CMN Hospitals. Watching each child share their stories and how they’re using their talents to turn around and give back to their children’s hospital was amazing. There were celebrity surprises along the way too with Lindsey Sterling surprising one champion and performing with him! The tournaments for ELU were so much fun. Dave and I both played in the semi-finals of 2 of the table top games and won money to bring home for WVU Medicine Children’s! Our first year was such a success! We sat in on workshops and panels to learn more about growing our guild and building our personal streaming brands. We picked up ideas for fundraising too. It’s rewarding on so many levels to attend Extra Life United.  It brings so much joy to my heart that we are able to help these families just by playing games. It’s all FOR THE KIDS! ” – Nikki Drake

How Can you Help Nikki Reach her Goal?

You can help me and my Extra Life campaign in a couple ways

  • Donate Here!
  • Bee The Swarm –  a crowdfunding platform that uses revenue from free mobile video games to fund good causes from around the world! Simply sign up (by clicking the Bee The Swarm) and then download the 5 free mobile games. As you play the games, you will earn bees that you can use to “swarm” my campaign. Spoiler: There will be ads you will encounter, but if you click them it will be worth the few seconds!
  • You can also help just my sharing my page with your friends. Spread the word and we can help get those donations for the kids at WVU Medicine Children’s.

I’m so excited to be playing games For The Kids! 100% of your donations stay local. They go right to the kids at WVU Medicine Children’s Hospital. As usual, I’ll be posting updates via twitter and IG when I’m not streaming.   Extra Life!
